Social Business and Public Relations is like the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889

This famous photo helps tell the story of the “land grab” happening online.

We’re seeing large companies refusing to participate in social media public relations, nor respond to comments and tweets online. While these kinds of companies are busy making policies to prevent facebook use during work hours, smaller companies are coming in and maximizing its potential. They are leveling the playing field by efficiently positioning their brand online, creating content that is found in search engines and engaging with their prospects and customers.

We believe that social media public relations is the social circle, not limited to Facebook, but extending to Twitter, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Google and beyond tells the story that those with the best and largest networks will prevail. We’re referring here to the use of those networks in Social CRM and Social Search on the horizon. We’re talking about where prospects, employees and partnerships will come from in the future.

Those that ignore social media public relations will miss out and will be kicking themselves in about 2-3 years.

(Out of respect for native Oklahomans we do not condone the Land Rush).
