Voting Ends Soon for Chase and Living Social’s Mission: Small Business – More Cabbage
We’re in the last two days of voting for the Mission: Small Business grant qualifying round. We have to reach 250 votes before the end of day tomorrow. Currently, we need about 50 more votes to qualify. Would you help us get there?
What are you voting on?
Chase and Living Social came together and raised $3.0 Million dollars to offer 12 businesses a $250K grant. To qualify, we need to use social media and other online communication channels to attract votes. Once we qualify, our application advances to the next round. Winners will be announced in September after they review our application in detail.
Why Do we Think We’ll Receive the Grant?
We believe we have a story to tell. Our history, our work and our approach to business and life is an inspiration to other companies and leaders. Considering we had four to five days to gather votes, our experience tells us it was possible through Social Media to get the word out and do this right. We really like the model that Chase and Living Social are using to gather names, votes and applications. Based on the numbers, we would estimate our odds to be fairly good. If we do not receive the award, there will be others.
Why are small businesses important?
Small businesses make up over 80% of the United States gross national product. The more small businesses thrive, the better our economy thrives. The government maintains that small business is anyone under 100 employees or sometimes qualifies them as under $100M/year in revenue. They are often private, family-run businesses.
What will we do with the funds?
We’ll be harvesting our own leads at More Cabbage, using the funds for pitch budget, research, travel and speaking expenses, and other sales expenses which will triple our gross, and will provide at least ten new jobs affecting hundreds of others, and save us about $50-75K in cash flow that we can use toward a deposit on our next acquisition.
How do I vote?
Some are having difficulties figuring out how to vote and others are hitting a “Warning” sign when they are clicking on the Mission: Small Business link. Here’s step-by-step instructions on how you can vote for More Cabbage.
First, click on the Mission: Small Business link (www.missionsmallbusiness.com)
This is the page you should land on.
On the bottom right hand side of the page, you can see “Log in with Facebook” link. Click on that, and a pop up will appear asking you to allow Facebook and Mission: Small Business to connect to each other (if you are signed in, otherwise it asks for your Facebook credentials). Click on accept and you’ll be taken to the next page. Scroll to the bottom and type “More Cabbage” into the search box:
Once you click search, the page will reload itself and display More Cabbage. Click Vote and you’re finished showing More Cabbage your love.
For some extra brownie points with the More Cabbage team click the Share vote link. Then you can share with your Facebook friends and Twitter followers (or even email your family) who you voted for and why!
